Our Impact: Capacity Building and Training

We believe that building the capacity of health workers and organizations is key to stronger health systems and resilient communities.

From January to October 2024, we delivered Consultancy Services for the Mindanao Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) Intermediate Courses for the Department of Health – Center for Health Development Northern Mindanao. Disease surveillance officers were trained to detect and respond to epidemics effectively. By the end of the course, participants gained practical skills to manage emerging and re-emerging public health problems, strengthening the region’s disease surveillance and response capacity.

Between May 2021 and March 2022, we created Online Courses for Public Health and Emergency Management in the Philippines (PHEMP) for the Department of Health – Health Emergency Management Bureau. These interactive online lessons transformed public health emergency preparedness by equipping health personnel with knowledge and confidence to manage emergencies and disasters anytime, anywhere.

During the same period, we developed E-Learning Courses for Hospitals Safe from Disasters for the Department of Health – Health Emergency Management Bureau. Hospital staff were trained through practical, scenario-based online modules to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters, making hospitals safer and more resilient in emergencies.

From March to July 2021, we designed an Online Training Module for Basic Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (BEmONC) with Essential Intrapartum and Newborn Care (EINC) and Post Training Evaluation for the World Health Organization Philippines. This comprehensive online module improved maternal and newborn care by providing accessible learning tools for health providers, resulting in a ready-to-use package integrated into national training programs to save the lives of mothers and newborns.

In November 2016, we facilitated a Strategic Planning Workshop for 2017 to 2021 for the Department of Health Region IV-A. The workshop guided the development of regional health priorities and action plans, strengthening the strategic direction and program implementation of the regional health office to better serve its communities.

Through these capacity building and training initiatives, APMARGIN continues to empower health workers and organizations to deliver quality services, respond effectively to challenges, and build healthier, more resilient communities across the Philippines.
