Our Impact: Health Research and Analysis
At Asia Pacific Management and Research Group, Inc. (APMARGIN), we believe that research creates meaningful change for communities. Our recent projects continue to inform policies, strengthen programs, and improve lives across the Philippines.
In September to December 2024, we conducted the Bed Net Utilization Survey in Palawan for PSFI to understand how communities use and care for insecticidal nets. Insights guided targeted malaria prevention programs to keep families protected.
During the same period, we carried out Rabies Campaign Data Collection in Marinduque for USAID-Breakthrough Action. The assessment explored mothersā perceptions of rabies risks and safe dog interactions, shaping effective rabies prevention messages that protect children and communities.
From May to September 2024, we provided Technical Assistance for the External Assessment of FMTP for WHO Philippines and DOH-Epidemiology Bureau. The evaluation assessed health management training programs nationwide and offered strategic recommendations to strengthen outcomes for health managers.
Between March and July 2024, we conducted the Study on Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) for DKT Philippines Foundation in Bulacan, Rizal, Cebu, and Misamis Oriental. Results guided initiatives to promote IUDs and implants, especially among young women needing long-term options.
From December 2023 to December 2024, we implemented the Global School-Based Student Health Survey (GSBSHS) for DOST-PCHRD nationwide. Findings provided data on tobacco use and health behaviors among Filipino adolescents, informing youth health and school-based prevention programs.
Between November 2023 and January 2024, we documented experiences of bike patrol teams through Learning from the RH Bicycle Patrol Teams Documentation for PSRP in Laguna and Rizal. This study highlighted how mobile outreach expanded reproductive health services and offered lessons for scaling up to other areas.
From March to August 2023, we conducted Survey Research to Evaluate Exposure to COVID-19 Campaigns for Breakthrough Action in multiple provinces. Findings assessed how COVID-19 messages reached communities and influenced behaviors, guiding risk communication strategies in public health emergencies.
Between November 2022 and April 2023, we completed the Outcome Evaluation of the USAID Reach Health Project across NCR, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, Iloilo, Bacolod, and Cagayan de Oro. The evaluation showed improved contraceptive use and informed USAIDās future programming to reach more women and families.
From October 2021 to August 2022, we conducted the Breast Cancer Costing Study for Pfizer to estimate the costs of diagnosis, treatment, and management nationwide. Results provided critical data to advocate for affordable and accessible cancer care.
Between December 2019 and April 2020, we carried out a Population-Based Survey Using LQAS in 17 Provinces for PCHRD. This determined regional contraceptive prevalence rates and guided prioritization of family planning interventions nationwide.
From October 2019 to January 2020, we conducted the Population-Based Vaccination Coverage Survey in Region 2 for DOH Region 2. Results measured immunization coverage and identified operational gaps to strengthen vaccination strategies and protect childrenās health.
Between February 2019 and February 2020, we completed Bottleneck Analysis Research on Family Planning Among Farmers and Fisherfolks for PSRP in six provinces. Findings uncovered barriers to family planning services and guided strategies tailored for these underserved communities.
From March 2017 to January 2018, we evaluated the Program for Young Parents nationwide for Visayas Health. The assessment supported improved program designs to better meet the needs of adolescent mothers and fathers.
Between September 2017 and March 2018, we conducted the Post Mass Drug Administration Coverage Survey of Lymphatic Filariasis in Oriental Mindoro and Sultan Kudarat for RTI. The survey measured treatment coverage, guiding the next steps towards eliminating lymphatic filariasis and protecting communities from this debilitating disease.
Each of these projects reflects our commitment at APMARGIN to delivering data-driven evidence that informs better health policies, strengthens programs, and creates real change for communities across the Philippines.
