Our Impact: Program Monitoring and Evaluation

We believe that strong program monitoring and evaluation are key to designing better health interventions and achieving meaningful impact for communities.

From December 2023 to December 2024, we implemented the Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS) and Global School-Based Student Health Survey (GSHS) for the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Health Research and Development. These national surveys monitored adolescent tobacco use and health behaviors, providing vital data to evaluate school health programs and guide policies that protect Filipino youth from risky behaviors.

Between November 2022 and April 2023, our team carried out the Outcome Evaluation of the USAID Reach Health Project for RTI International in NCR, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, Iloilo, Bacolod, and Cagayan de Oro. The evaluation assessed family planning and reproductive health outcomes from 2019 to 2022, demonstrating improved contraceptive uptake and service delivery, and providing recommendations to strengthen future USAID program strategies in the Philippines.

From February to June 2021, we conducted Overall Results Monitoring and Assessment of Data Quality of Project SRH Interventions under the UNFPA-CANADA Country Programme for the Philippine Society on Responsible Parenthood with support from the United Nations Population Fund and the Government of Canada. This project established baseline, progress, and end-of-project monitoring for sexual and reproductive health indicators, ensuring accurate data to guide programming decisions and measure impact in project areas.

Between September 2017 and March 2018, we conducted the Post Mass Drug Administration Coverage Survey of Lymphatic Filariasis in Oriental Mindoro and Sultan Kudarat for RTI International. The survey assessed treatment coverage following MDA campaigns, informing the Department of Health and local governments about coverage gaps and guiding next steps towards eliminating lymphatic filariasis in these provinces.

Through these program monitoring and evaluation projects, APMARGIN has provided partners with accurate data and practical recommendations to improve health program design, implementation, and outcomes, ensuring better health for communities across the Philippines.
