Our Impact: Health Systems Strengthening
We remain committed to strengthening health systems and ensuring communities receive better and more sustainable health services.
From May to September 2024, we conducted the External Assessment of the Field Management Training Program (FMTP) for the World Health Organization Philippines and the Department of Health – Epidemiology Bureau. This assessment evaluated program implementation across health development centers, hospitals, and local government units. Results provided strategic recommendations to enhance FMTP’s effectiveness in building management capacity among public health workers nationwide.
Between August and December 2023, we carried out the Evaluation of Adolescent-Friendly Health Facilities for the World Health Organization Philippines in Davao, Aklan, Agusan del Sur, NCR, Samar, and Leyte. The evaluation assessed service quality and policy alignment with DOH standards, identifying best practices for modeling. Findings informed revisions to certification guidelines and strengthened adolescent health services across these regions.
From September 2022 to July 2023, we offered Consultancy Support for the Philippine Multi-Disease Elimination Plan for Pilipinas Shell Foundation Inc. Our team facilitated multi-stakeholder workshops, consolidated strategic inputs, and finalized the elimination plan covering multiple neglected tropical diseases, strengthening national efforts towards integrated disease elimination.
Between December 2021 and December 2022, we provided Technical Assistance for the Development of the National Strategic Plan for Control and Elimination of Malaria (NSPCEM) 2023–2028 for Pilipinas Shell Foundation Inc. This initiative crafted the country’s roadmap towards malaria elimination, including a program transition and sustainability plan to guide DOH and partners in achieving malaria-free status.
In 2018 to 2019, we implemented the Modified Leprosy Elimination Campaign for the World Health Organization Philippines in Pangasinan, Iloilo, Bohol, Zamboanga City, Davao City, Tarlac, and Nueva Ecija. Activities included contact tracing, screening, data analysis, and reporting to support DOH’s leprosy elimination goals, improving surveillance and treatment for affected communities.
Through these projects, APMARGIN continues to strengthen health systems by improving program implementation, developing strategic plans, enhancing service quality, and supporting disease elimination efforts, ensuring that communities across the Philippines receive the care they need for a healthier future.
